کاشان به نام‌های زیادی معروف است؛ به این‌جا دارالمؤمنین، شهر خانه‌های تاریخی و پایتخت فرش و قالی جهان گفته می‌شود اما شاید لقب شهر گل و گلاب آشناترین و زیباترین توصیف برای این شهر باشد.
مورخان، این شهر را زادگاه یکی از کهن‌ترین تمدن‌های تاریخ بشر در منطقه‌ای به نام سیلک می‌دانند. به همین دلیل این شهر به عنوان اولین تمدن یکجانشینی و شهرنشینی شناخته می‌شود. جالب اینکه عده‌ای از مورخان، کاشان را به واسطه قدمت چند هزار ساله این ناحیه، نخستین شهر در ایران و حتی در جهان می‌دانند که بشر در آن ساکن شده است.

کاشان در زمینه پرورش افراد بزرگ و مشاهیر هم حرفی برای گفتن دارد. اگر به تاریخ این شهر نگاهی داشته باشیم لیست بلند و بالایی از مشاهیر کشومان که در این شهر به دنیا آمده‌اند را خواهیم دید، کسانی مانند کمال‌الملک، سهراب سپهری، غیاث‌الدین جمشید کاشانی و میرزا محمد نراقی کاشانی.

این شهر در شمال استان اصفهان و در دامنه کوه‌های کرکس قرار گرفته و از طرف دیگر به کویر مرکزی ایران متصل شده است. همین موضوع باعث شده است که آب و هوای کوهستانی و کویری را در این ناحیه بتوانید تجربه کنید و همین آب و هوای دل‌انگیز و متنوع باعث شده است که این شهر طول تاریخ پر فراز و نشیب خود همیشه نظر بشر را به خودش جلب کند.
